Altmire's Reckless Spending Threatens Social Security
Today, Fourth Congressional District Republican candidate Keith Rothfus issued the following statement on Social Security. “While Washington Democrats continue to use Social Security as a political hot potato to distract from their dangerous spending records, we must remember that the biggest threat to Social Security today is the anti-jobs agenda that Democrats have forced on the American people. The federal government is being forced to borrow more and more from the Social Security program to pay for Nancy Pelosi and Jason Altmire’s out-of-control spending spree. This spending simply must stop if we are going to stabilize our economy and make sure that Social Security is on firm financial footing.
“We must keep our commitment to senior citizens that Social Security will be there for them. Washington Democrats can use all the scare tactics they want, but the fact remains that the Obama/Pelosi/Altmire job-killing spending is moving us more and more toward the insolvency of Social Security. Contrary to any scare tactics that Congressman Altmire might make up in the coming months, I believe the following: Social Security should not be privatized, we must do everything we can to protect the benefits we have committed to our seniors, and taxes should not be raised to further feed the out-of-control spending by the Democrats.”
